The reality is that the internet has taken its place alongside other media, and its growth has certainly coming at the expense of those more established media. But the internet is not going to kill magazines or radio or the local daily newspaper. In so many ways, they are thriving now, despite all the grim talk, and they will continue to thrive alongside the internet even as this sorting out process continues. If anything, the internet serves to enhance what they do well. None of these media is as vulnerable as the doomsters would have us believe.

People still listen to the radio while driving, even if some drive time is spent on the phone. Newspapers are taking a huge hit in ad revenue, for sure, and readership is declining, but they still have huge local impact, and they still show yearly profits in the double digits.

Employers driven to cut commutes with tax credit offer

Teleworking, or working from home, is taking off in Georgia. A key factor in its increasing popularity is Georgia's forward thinking telework tax credit for employers.

Last month, the Georgia Department of Revenue announced that 135 employers have been approved to take tax credits in 2008 for creating and expanding telework programs. These credits —- currently capped at $2 million a year —- will provide a tremendous return on the state's investment in the form of increased employee productivity and morale, fewer cars on our traffic-choked roads and less pollutants in our skies.

Last week, Rep. Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta) introduced Georgia House Bill 1244, which would extend the telework tax credit for two more years and raise the cap on the credit to $2.5 million per year.

Dallas, I love you, but I've found Austin

It was just Ole's way of getting into the public eye," Duncan says. "It put Trinity in charge of millions of dollars worth of property. We'd be landlords with a heart, and we wouldn't evict people. That's a lot of power and influence."

Duncan describes Anthony as so anxious to get the deal done he "scammed his own board of directors." A lawyer and an accountant who worked with Trinity examined the deal and expressed reservations, says Duncan, who was on the board at the time. "But Ole told them not to say anything negative to the board because Ole wanted to do it. If the lawyer and the accountant said this is a bad idea, the board might have gone against it."

After the deal was completed, Trinity members discovered the apartments needed extensive remodeling. They'd paid an inflated price and didn't have enough funds to rehab the complexes.

Life jail terms for bomb attack seven

A BANGLADESHI court jailed seven Islamic militants for life for carrying out blasts as part of nationwide bomb attacks that shock the country in 2005.

Five of the seven militants from the banned Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were present when the verdict was handed down in a crowded court in Rajshahi city.

The other two are on the run and were tried in absentia.

"They were found guilty of carrying out five bomb blasts at Chapainawabganj town on August 17, 2005. One of the bombs was exploded at a court and injured three people," police inspector Mahbub Siddiqui said.

Authorities said the JMB was behind 400 almost simultaneous blasts in all but one of the country's 64 districts.

The attacks were part of a campaign apparently aimed at forcing predominantly-Muslim Bangladesh to replace its secular legal system with traditional Islamic law.

The Breakdown of Wall Street Alchemy

The investments at issue are so-called auction-rate securities, instruments at the center of the latest squeeze in the credit markets. Goldman, Lehman, Merrill Lynch and other banks have been telling investors the market for these securities is frozen -- and so is their cash. The banks typically pitch these securities to corporations and wealthy individuals as safe alternatives to cash... The bonds are, in fact, long-term securities. But the banks hold weekly or monthly auctions to set the interest rates and give holders the option of selling the securities. Only this week almost 1,000 of these auctions failed. The banks also refused to support the auctions, leaving many investors wondering when they will get their money back. 'Investors have lost confidence in the liquidity of these instruments,' said G.

American Idol Update: Amanda Overmyer Nude Pics, David Archuleta True

I'm going to say that Alexandrea Lushington is out and as cute as she is and as much as I love hearing her Britney Spears imitations every week the adorable Kady Malloy is in trouble.

On the guys side the wig wearing FOB (Friend of Britney) Robbie Carrico is my predicted first exit of the night. The other boy that should be eliminated is Jason Yeager. Jason is the one I am most certain of, all of the others are pure guesses, especially on the girls side as only Brooke White wowed me last night. The full story of the photos scandal is here for Amanda Overmyer. It will be very interesting to se how far her "friend" is willing to go if he or she does have the photos that is claimed in the story that broke earlier today.

Bush's Blackwater, an armed and deadly mercenary Christian army

Like most of you I knew Blackwater was a military contractor with personnel in Iraq. I knew they also sent armed personnel to police the street of New Orleans after Katrina. But I did some research after a private pilot friend sent me a series of photographs he recently took flying over their 6,000 acre North Carolina training site (see exclusive enlarged high resolution pictures here, my friend took them not knowing whether there might be dire consequenses flying so close to their facility). Once I did a little reading I was horrified at the secret army Bush has at his beck and call.

For starters, I suggest readers take a few minutes and at least view this discussion, if not read the entire article from The Nation by Jeremy Scahill, the author of a new book, "Blackwater, The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army".
