| Timber Industry 1991-2000
Its annual sales volumes exceed $4.5 billion, which is 2.9% of the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Russian Federation. Up to 85% of production is geared to export: round timber accounts for 33% of exports; lumber, for 19%; and the remainder is comprised of cardboard, pulp, and paper. The industry's foreign deliveries of more than $3.5 billion per year hold fifth place as a source of income after gas, oil, and ferrous and nonferrous metals. The industry accounts for about 5% of Russia' exports. Timber industry production has decreased 54% compared to 1988, the peak year for the economy of the USSR. The average age of equipment in the industry is 25 years. No more than 10% of the capacity of pulp and paper mills in Russia conforms to world standards, and up to 40% of it needs to be replaced immediately.
Pregnancy - Other Types Of Pain Relief
Tens devices are about the size of a small radio and are connected to electrodes placed on the skin, usually on your lower back. Electrical impulses result in a tingling sensation, which some women find annoying. The side effects of tens are usually no more than some skin irritation where the pads are stuck to the back. The electrical impulses do not affect the baby. Most studies of tens in labor have found it to be only mildly effective in reducing labor pain. .
Charter amendments issue looms
It's true that much progress has been made. It is true we are ready for change. It is true that much done by this panel is aimed toward Metro. You can see the results of the last election by the handling of the proposals. In another day, all would have been presented as a package, with NEPOTISM as the firebrand so as to incite the voters to a feeding frenzie and pass all others with out sound reasoning and study of the real motives. If the DEVELOPERS have ALL this panel in their hand, I can't detect it. DEVELOPERS are VERY good, but looks like we have made some progress. Proposals should be pared down to four. BTJ is correct, too much, too soon. Remember, if you lay with dogs you will get fleas. .
Dreams, bullpen stressing me out
Last night I dreamed I was sent out to Turner Field in the middle of a Braves game, having seen not one minute of spring training and told to come up with something to write, ready to turn in at the end of the game. Oy. I used to have the old recurring stress-out dream in my beat-writing days. But now? Here I am the back-up beat writer in the middle of January. I'm dreaming this the night before I'm supposed to write one lousy fill-in blog for DOB? Such high standards you see, for the Braves/Man in Black. Or so sayeth my subconscious. Let me back up for a second. For those not reading carefully it's CARROLL again - hey! Wassup? Long time! - and I'm feeling a little out of it after submersing myself in hockey (hockey?) and a little Hawks and Falcons for the last three months.
Ecommerce sites face security crackdown
Online shops face increasing regulation, with credit card companies handing down strict guidelines on the protection of customer data. After 30 June, companies selling goods online will be required to apply annually for certification under the new tighter guidelines providing consumers with greater guarantees of security when transacting online. Mastercard, Visa and American Express are all involved in the scheme, which is intended to encourage more shoppers to spend online and counter some recent negative publicity relating to the security of data provided online such as Bank of America's lost accounts, the attempted e-heist at Sumitomo Bank and past data protection issues involving the likes of Argos, B&Q and utility firm Powergen. Firms processing more than 20,000 transactions per year will be required to scan their networks each quarter and conduct annual audits of their compliance with the standards in order to qualify for certification.
Do UFOs really exist?
A lot of the serious UFO investigation was aimed at trying to ascertain things such as the aerodynamics of some of the UFOs, the avionics and the propulsion systems. Bali survivor slams Islam matriarch
A SURVIVOR of the first Bali bombing said the "star" of last night's ABC documentary Jihad Sheilas would be hunted down after her hardline comments about the victims. Peter Hughes said Rabiah Hutchinson, the so-called matriarch of radical Islam in Australia, was uninformed and utterly insensitive. "It's like going back to that moment when the suicide bomber was standing next to me," said Mr Hughes, who nearly died after the October 2002 attack in which 202 people, including 88 Australians, were killed. Mr Hughes warned there would be some people in the community who would hunt down Ms Hutchinson, who, fearing exactly that, attempted to have the show stopped on the grounds it misrepresented the views of herself and friend Raisah bint Alan Douglas.
Kayakers battle fatigue and competition
TWO men attempting to become the first Australians to paddle across the Tasman are battling physical and emotional exhaustion, as well as the likelihood a competing craft will steal their glory. Eight-metre swells continue to swamp their custom-built kayak as Sydneysiders James Castrission, 25, and Justin Jones, 24, paddle towards Auckland in rough conditions. The pair set out on their 2200km journey on November 13 from Forster, on the NSW mid-north coast. They reached their halfway point in early December but went around in circles for two weeks in attempts to dodge persistent head winds and a whirlpool of ocean currents. They are now 540km from Auckland, but their support team estimates the men have paddled an extra 1000km as a result of their unplanned detours. "They're physically and mentally exhausted, and morale has gone to its lowest point in the journey," support team member Tom Mitchell told AAP.
